Dr Jeannette Wessels has a medical degree from Stellenbosch University, a Diploma in HIV Management (CMSA) and a master’s degree in public health (University of Roehampton, London). She has more than 15 years of experience in capacity building, program planning, implementation, monitoring, and quality improvement in the fields of adult and pediatric ART, PMTCT, TB/HIV integration and maternal and child health programs. Dr Wessels has an in-depth understanding of the functioning of a district health system and has assisted the National Department of Health with the design and implementation of the new District Health Planning Framework, which includes the concepts of the outcomes-based approach, and well as pro-active and responsive planning. Her special interests are Continuous Quality Improvement and Health Systems Strengthening within the fields of PMTCT and Pediatric HIV.
