The Department of Animal Science is one of the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Science's highest output departments in terms of research:

• Postgraduate research

Our three main postgraduate research disciplines are animal breeding and genetics, animal nutrition and animal physiology. These focus areas allow us to graduate a diverse cohort of postrgraduate students, in a wide range research areas that are practically applicable to the animal science industry and meaningfully contribute to food secuirty.

• Research for non-degree purposes

Our academic staff, along with lecturing, also aim to publish reasearch articles, chapters and popular science contributions in a range of publications.
