The Department of Visual Arts is proud to announce Alumni student Matilda Engelblik won a Merit Award at the Sasol New Signatures competition for 2016.  Engelblik’s artwork is about memory and loss connected to specific spaces.  The artist creates spaces where the audience may connect to places of their own experiences of loss. Engelblik, completed her degree in 2015 in the Fine Arts division at the University of Pretoria.  

Fine Arts students from the University of Pretoria whom was finalists for the Sasol New Signatures competition 2016 are Leandré le Roux (Masters student), Shenaz Mahomed (Masters student), Chrisél van der Merwe (Final year student) and Kate Swart (Third year student).
