The Fine Arts division in the Department of Visual Arts are having their annual staff exhibition. The exhibition, curated by Natalie Fossey MA(FA), showcases work executed in various media which Interrogate social, political, theoretical and phenomenological views on the fast-paced experiences of life and time. ‘Tempo’ refers not only to pace and timing in musical compositions, but also inspires ideas of rhythm, balance and perceptions of experience in and over time.
The exhibition will be hosted on the Hatfield Main Campus of the University of Pretoria. This year the staff show will be curated among the UP Arts collection in the Old Merensky building and the Edoardo Villa Museum. Art works of artists will be showcased amongst the works of old masters such as Rembrandt van Rijn, Jacob Pierneef and Edoardo Villa
Tempo is a unique experience of art by staff and artists from the Department of Visual Arts. Exhibitors are: The Head of Department of Visual Arts, Prof Raimi Gbadamosi, Avi Sooful, Johan Thom, Nicola Grobler, Natalie Fossey, Magdel van Rooyen, Diane Victor, Carla Crafford, Guy du Toit, Berco Wilsenach, Lelani Nicolaisen, Carl Jeppe, Daniel Mosako, Sybrand Wiechers, Vusi Beauchamp, Shenaz Mohamed and students currently completing their 4th and final year of study.
The Exhibition has come about as a complementary event to the JazzUP Tshwane Donor Initiative, where musical performances by Vusi Mahlasela, The Moss Mogale Unit - CAFCA Music School in Mamelodi and Tshwane School of Music in Eersterust will be showcased.
Please join us for the opening night of Tempo on the 18th of April 18:00 for 18:30 on the University of Pretoria, Hatfield campus of, Old Merensky building, the Edoardo Villa Museum
The exhibition will be open from the 19th of April until the 29th of April and will be open for viewing between 09:00 and 16:00.
Artist walkabout is on the 26th of April at 11:00.
