Image & Text (ISSN 1020 1497) is an online visual culture journal published by the University of Pretoria since 1992. It is accredited by the South African Department of Higher Education and Training.

Leora Farber (2010) graciously stated in her opening address during the launch of the book: “[...] one of the most significant aspects of the book is the valuable insights it offers into how cyber-feminism can address the task of integrating women and new technologies in the twenty-first century from an African perspective”. This is precisely what the book aims to accomplish.

Exhibition catalogues

Dreyer, E (cur.). 2013. Nomad Bodies. Pretoria: University of Pretoria and Andrew W Mellon Foundation

Nomad bodies presented critical visual representations of nomadism as it relates to embodied technologies, materials and concepts. The exhibition and catalogue were funded by the Andrew W Mellon Foundation.

Dreyer, E. 2013. Metromusings. Pretoria: University of Pretoria.

Metromusings presented a visual mapping of the social and political power geographies and complexes that dominate cities and how urban culture can be voiced, claimed, negotiated and contested. The exhibition was curated by Prof Elfriede Dreyer, and presented artworks from members of staff and affiliated guest lecturers from the Department of Visual Arts.
