The Public Policy Hub’s (PPH) theory of change posits that by utilizing evidence-based knowledge and data-driven policy, governance officials and policymakers, in collaboration with academia, can acquire the skills, knowledge, resources, and capabilities necessary to implement effective public policies. Over time, this approach will lead to enhanced development in Africa across key human, social, and economic indicators.
The PPH is anchored in core objectives including: 1) strategic collaboration between academic and the public sector for optimization of data creation, gathering, and utilization for research and policy development, and to enhance stakeholder engagement for transformative, evidence-based public policies in Africa; and 2) connecting and strengthening the relationship between academic research and policymaking via platforms to co-produce transdisciplinary, policy-relevant research to support evidence-based decision-making.
We drive change through collaborative research and data creation, consultative processes, capacity development, executive training, and research dissemination and publication. Through these actions we build outputs in skills development, increased data quality, stronger partnerships, policy briefs and reports, networks, and mentorships that result in transformative outcomes. These outcomes include enhanced capacity to deliver and implement effective policy, better policy decision-making processes, stronger institutions and networks, and improved real-world application. Long-term impacts include strengthened institutions and governance frameworks, sustainable and inclusive African growth, and enhanced quality of life for individuals and communities through well-informed public policies.
