Vision and Mission

The vision and mission of the PPH are as follows:

• Vision: The Public Policy Hub (PPH) at the University of Pretoria (UP) envisions a world where African public policy is designed and implemented using evidence and data, resulting in greater societal impact and improved quality of life at both the individual and community levels.
• Mission: To bridge research and policy for sustainable development in Africa through transformative, collaborative, and evidence-based solutions.

Core Objectives

The core objectives of the PPH are to:

1. Foster strategic collaboration between academic institutions and the public sector, optimize data creation, collection, access, and utilisation for research and policy development, and enhance stakeholder engagement to advance the implementation of transformative, sustainable, evidence-based public policies across Africa.
2. Connect and bridge the gap and strengthen the relationship between academic research and government policymaking by offering a platform to:
   • Co-produce transdisciplinary, policy-relevant research to support evidence-based decision-making that addresses public sector needs, ensuring policies are grounded in empirical evidence while also meeting the publication standards expected of researchers.
   • Exchange skills and innovative techniques.
   • Tackle complex developmental issues in Africa that require innovative and transformative solutions.
