Research

One key pillar of the PPH is to produce trans-disciplinary (where needed) and policy-relevant research with implementable solutions for societal impact. The PPH’s research focus areas are anchored and developed within the framework of the African Union’s (AU) Agenda 2063 and the United Nations’ (UN) Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.

The PPH aims to position itself as a knowledge intermediary providing an interface between academic research and public policy to support and facilitate collaboration between academic researchers and public policymakers by:

●  Understanding the various pathways to the public policy-making process, identifying and resolving barriers and pitfalls.

● Stimulating research which is relevant to decision-makers by transforming policy issues into research questions.

● Sharing and disseminating knowledge between the worlds of research and decision-making by assisting academics in translating research and other evidence into a language accessible to policymakers (e.g., policy briefs, policy notes, etc.)

●  Leveraging the advancement of technology, automation, and artificial intelligence (AI) to understand not only how they affect society and therefore public policymaking, but also the challenges and opportunities the megatrends bring to the world.
