About Us

The PPH aligns with UP's Destination 2026 and Beyond Strategic Plan and it is set to strengthen UP's impact on economic and social development. It aims to find innovative ways to create partnerships between government leaders who are seeking solutions to pressing public problems and researchers who study those potential solutions to connect relevant evidence and expertise to the right policymakers at the right time.

The objectives of the Public Policy Hub (PPH) are:

  1. Facilitate collaboration and engagement between academic research and government public policy by providing an interface to bridge the gap.
  2. Identify needs and priorities in the policy community, and offer new knowledge, knowledge synthesis, advisory services, executive training programs, and pathways to resource mobilisation where needed to fill critical gaps.
  3. Build partnerships with key stakeholders in the public policy community to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration, and address challenges impeding the uptake of data and evidence into result-oriented decision-making.
  4. Build a strong knowledge community of academics through strengthening interconnections and synergies where transdisciplinary work is needed and supporting research translation for policy.
  5. Strengthen the co-production of knowledge and facilitate the sharing and transfer of skills and techniques between academic research and government public policy.
  6. Communicate research findings and policy recommendations to policymakers, practitioners, and the wider public through various channels, including research-to-policy conferences or dialogues, policy briefs, and peer-reviewed journal publications.
  7. Assist in the implementation, management, and reporting of public policies, and conduct policy evaluation and impact assessment through a monitoring and evaluation program.
