A Day in the Life of the University of Pretoria. 02 March 1973

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the students at the University of Pretoria founded a new club exclusively for female students. They named the club the “Tukkies Klets Klub” (Tuks Chat club).

The student newspaper, Die Perdeby, reported that the club’s main aim was to teach ladies good communication skills, including how to fulfil the role of a guest speakers during functions and meetings. During the club’s meetings, ladies were given the opportunity to present prepared speeches to their fellow club members.  Members of the club could also attend a weekend away with the “Ingenieurs Studente Sprekers Klub” (the Public Speaking Club for Engineering Students) to further practise their public speaking skills.
