A Day in the Life of the University of Pretoria. 21 February 1964

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the student newspaper, Die Perdeby, reported on the introduction of new musical instruments at UP’s performing arts academy.

The academy purchased nine new brass instruments to introduce the students to this particular type of musical instrument. The University further hoped to one day establish its very own brass band. All interested male students were invited to an audition with Dr Vitale, the principal trumpeter at the South African Academy for Performing Arts. Successful candidates would be able to attend a practical course in playing these brass instruments.
