A Day in the Life of the University of Pretoria. 07 February 2008

Posted on June 08, 2023

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" UP’s centenary celebrations started with a student candlelight walk.

Thousands of students participated in this visual feast as the procession moved across the Hatfield Campus. The highlight of the evening was the lighting of the centenary flame that remained burning in front of the Client Services Centre throughout the centenary year.

In September students also took part in the Centenary Rose Collaborative Community Art Initiative.  This impressive work of art depicting the University of Pretoria’s centenary rose, consisted of 3 844 painted boxes which were packed in a grid formation on the lawn in front of the Aula. The initiative was concluded in October when Tuks RAG distributed the boxes, filled with non-perishable food parcels, to pensioners in Winterveld.

The University of Pretoria Archives (UPA) preserves the history of the University of Pretoria. The UPA has an extensive photo collection and clipping collection. Please contact us on [email protected] to share your memories of Tukkies or to access our collection.
