A Day in the Life of the University of Pretoria. 06 October 2008

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the book entitled Onderstepoort 1908–2008 was launched at the Onderstepoort Centenary Pan-African Veterinary Conference. This publication commemorates the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences’ centenary.

The publication was edited by Dr Daan Verwoerd and Dr Rudolph Bigalke and focuses on the historical development of Onderstepoort from the founding of the Veterinary Institute, the birth of the Faculty, its amalgamation with UP, as well as the history of the individual disciplines in the Faculty. The book is richly illustrated and provides a wealth of information for students, agriculturalists, historians and animal lovers alike. The authors contextualize the history of Veterinary Sciences and detail the important role that UP’s scientists played in finding solutions to various animal diseases.
