A Day in the Life of the University of Pretoria. 13 October 2008

Posted on June 05, 2023

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the student newspaper, the Perdeby, reported on the environmental impact of the photocopy machines on campus.

According to UP’s service provider in 2008, students in the UP library used more than 2200 reams of paper per month. This was equal to the destruction of 130 trees. In order to curb the wastage UP was investigating introducing paper recycling on campus. Students were also encouraged to rather buy an electronic book than to photocopy publications.

The University of Pretoria Archives (UPA) preserves the history of the University of Pretoria. The UPA has an extensive photo collection and clipping collection. Please contact us on [email protected] to share your memories of Tukkies or to access our collection.
