A Day in the Life of the University of Pretoria. 31 August 2015

Posted on May 30, 2023

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the SAPS highlighted a disturbing trend amongst students.

The SAPS explained to the student newspaper, the Perdeby (today known as the PDBY ) that many students had been submitting false statements to the police during investigation or opening false cases, which the SAPS described as a “disturbing tendency”. This follows the SAPS’s realisation that many students are opening cases, mainly of car theft, in order to claim insurance. The SAPS warned students that all cases were investigated and that false reporting was a serious criminal offence and offenders could be charged with perjury.

The University of Pretoria Archives (UPA) preserves the history of the University of Pretoria. The UPA houses historical volumes and clippings reflecting on the history of the University as featured here.
