On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the local newspaper, the Rand Daily Mail, reported that several of the campus publications were being restricted.
The newspaper reported that in an effort to "limit" and “control” student writing at the University of Pretoria, students had established a publications control board to censor campus publications. All material published on the campus had to be approved by the newly established committee. The chairman of the committee denied that this was a form of censorship, but elaborated that it was rather an attempt to control the contents of the publications and to ensure that all publications were within certain political paradigms.
