A Day in the Life of the University of Pretoria. 18 August 1980

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the Rand Daily Mail reported on a bomb blast on the campus.

The two bombs were planted in the offices of Professor Jan Lombard at the University of Pretoria. The blast destroyed most of the Professor’s office. The investigation found that the bombs were homemade. The reason for the attack was unclear, however, the article surmised that it was most likely a politically motivated attack because Prof Lombard was an economic adviser to the Prime Minister and responsible for the highly controversial plan for a multi-racial confederation for Natal.
