On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the Rand Daily Mail reported on allegationsof campus admission denial of the SASCON president.

An Afrikaans daily newspaper stated that the first national President of the South African Students’ Congress (SASCON), Mr Dan J. J. Otto, had been denied admission to the University of Pretoria because he did not comply with the academic requirements. Mr Otto asserted that the newspaper report was untrue and that it was due to his association with SASCON that he was denied admission.
