On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" a university spokesperson said that about 250 University of Pretoria employees agreed to end their strike for more pay.
The Citizen newspaper explained that workers from the National Education Health and Allied Workers Union (NEHAWU) went on strike earlier in the week after the University Management asked to postpone wage negotiations. They protested by littering the campus. The Student Representative Council (SRC) volunteered to clean up the campus and to work in the university kitchens while the workers were striking.
