A day in the life at the University of Pretoria. 18 October 2008

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" UP conferred a honorary doctorate to the Honorable Goh Chok Tong, a senior minister of the Republic of Singapore. Senior Minister Goh was awarded a Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) (honoris causa). Vic-Chancellor and Principal of UP, Prof Calie Pistorius presented the award during a graduation ceremony in Singapore.  

UP’s staff letter Tukkievaria noted that: “Senior Minister Goh was honoured for the leadership role he has played in the economic success and prosperity of Singapore and his contribution to the strategic role that Singapore plays in Asia. He contributed to the transformation of Singapore from a low-income warehousing and trade centre to a vibrant first-world economy, which greatly enhanced the material wellbeing of his fellow citizens.”

The University of Pretoria Archives (UPA) preserves the history of the University of Pretoria.
