A day in the life at the University of Pretoria. 04 May 1991

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" Katjiepiering (today known as Azalea) residence was officially opened by Dr. Rina Venter, Minister of Health, on the Experimental farm.

The new female residence was nestled between six male residences. The Katjiepiering could accommodate 120 ladies and was designed by Neethling, Labuschagne & Davidson. The residence was built by Michielsen & Hofman for approximately R889 000. Katjiepiering was renamed Azalea in 2018 and currently houses 200 ladies.

The UPA preserves the history of the University of Pretoria.
