A day in the life at the University of Pretoria. 07 April 1978

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the student newspaper the Perdeby reported on success of the female hockey team.

The newspaper noted that the team had performed well at the recent 1978 hockey matches. In their match between ISCOR Tukkie won 3 -1. Glenda Anderson and Glenda Mathhews scored the two winning goals. The Tuks Ladies Hockey Club was founded in 1918. This team sport was very popular at UP so much so that in 1959 UP officially opened its very own hockey field. In 2003 Tuks hockey received a new club house and more courts.

The UPA preserves the history of the University of Pretoria. We have an extensive photo collection and earlier copies of the senate, council and faculty minutes. We also have an extensive clipping collection in our holdings. Please contact us on [email protected] to share your memories of Tukkies or to access our collection virtually.
