By 1909, with 66 registered students the TUC already had four sport clubs including rugby, soccer tennis and netball. Over the years, rugby would continue to grow from strength to strength. In 2011 the Tuks rugby team played in the semi-final game for the first time in Tuks’ Varsity Cup history.  The Perdeby news article on 4 April reported that Tuks won the semifinal match 25 to 11 against UJ.

The University of Pretoria Archives (UPA) preserves the history of the University of Pretoria. The UPA's numerous holdings include an extensive photo collection, as well as news clippings and histories detailing the growth and impact of the University.  Please contact us at [email protected] to share your Tukkies experiences, or visit the UPA reading room to view our collection
