On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the student newspaper the Perdeby reported on new coffee room opening close to campus.

This new coffee room was opened on in South Street on the Baptist Church ground. The coffee room was located close to the female residence, Huis-en-Haard (today housing the restaurant Adlers on the Hatfield campus). The coffee room was set to open on 2 April 1977. This small coffee house served coffee with marshmallow for 15 cents. Students could also buy something light to eat with their partner or date on the evening. The coffee house also played some music and also offered live music evenings.

The UPA preserves the history of the University of Pretoria. We have an extensive photo collection and earlier copies of the senate, council and faculty minutes. We also have an extensive clipping collection in our holdings. Please contact us on [email protected] to share your memories of Tukkies or access our collection virtually.
