On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the student newspaper the Perdeby reported on the success of UP’s squash teams

The UP Squash Club was already founded in 1961 and in 1975 the squash courts were officially opened on the sport campus. By 1985 the Tuks Scquash Club performed well in regional competitions. In the first quarter matches of 1985 the first team won against Pretoria High School for Boys while the female team was also victorious at the matches in Irene. 83 students participated in the campus squash championships. 27 ladies participated in this 1985 squash competition.

The UPA preserves the history of the University of Pretoria. We have an extensive photo collection and earlier copies of the senate, council and faculty minutes. We also have an extensive clipping collection in our holdings. Please contact us on [email protected] to share your memories of Tukkies or access our collection virtually.
