On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the Johannesburg based newspaper Rand Daily Mail reported on the popularity of the University’s Rag Magazine.
The newspaper noted that about 120 000 copies of the student magazine was printed in 1970, fifty percent more than what was printed a year before. This year a car was offered to the UP student who sold the most magazines. Each first year students was told to sell at least 60 magazines. Students travelled as far as Kwa-Zulu Natal to sell the Rag magazine
