On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the Transvaal University College (TUC), the predecessor of the University of Pretoria, awarded prizes to their students.

The Johannesburg based newspaper; the Rand Daily Mail noted that prizes were awarded to students that performed well in the Evening Class examinations.  The award ceremony, as advertised above took place in the Assembly Hall of the College on Plein Square.
