On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the Johannesburg based newspaper Rand Daily Mail reported on the demand for students who studied at the Transvaal University College (TUC).

The newspaper noted that there were several vacancies at the Town Engineer’s Department for building inspectors, however only applications from persons holding the certificate of the Transvaal University College would be accepted. The Rand Daily Mial further explained that the College would present an examination in sanitary knowledge for those that do not have a certificate from TUC but would like to apply for the positions.

The UPA preserves the history of the University of Pretoria. We have an extensive photo collection and earlier copies of the senate, council and faculty minutes. We also have an extensive clipping collection in our holdings. Please contact us on [email protected] to share your memories of Tukkies or access our collection virtually.
