According to the article, as featured above, the academy purchased nine new brass instruments for the Tukkie students. The instruments were acquired to introduce students to these musical instruments. The university further hoped to one day also create UP’s own brass band. All interested, male students, were invited to an interview with Dr. Vitale. Dr. Vitale was the lead trumpet player at the South African Academy for Performing Arts. The newspaper further explained that students who were selected would be able to attend a practical course in playing these brass instruments.
