On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria”, students and staff remembered veterinarian and Tuks athletic captain, Sydney Turner who died at the age of 58.
Sydney Turner enrolled for the BSc Agriculture degree at the Transvaal University College (TUC) in 1931. He was also a resident of Kollegehuis during his studies. In 1935 he returned to UP to study Veterinary Science. He was a leader and keen athlete. During his time at Tukkies he was captain of the university athletic team and chairman of the Onderstepoort house committee. He graduated as a veterinarian in 1938– one in a class of five.
The UPA preserves the history of the University of Pretoria. We have a vast photo collection and earlier copies of the senate, council and faculty minutes.
