The 1965 article, as featured above, reported that the club was created with the support of Jaap Coetzee, the chairman of the South African Motor Club and UP’s rector prof C. Pistorius who was also a member of the South African Motor Club. The UP Motor Sport Club allowed students to participate in competitions; attend films shows on motor sport and receive a discount on car parts. The article also detailed the successes of UP motor sport club members at regional competitions.  This article was accompanied by a special motor feature detailing the built and performance of popular vehicles of the time. This included photos and capacity of brands like Volkswagen; Ferrari, Fiat and Astra.
