A day in the life at the University of Pretoria. 28 September 2020

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the UP Mammal Research Institute started with their 41^st aerial survey of the Southern right whales.

The article appeared on this day in the 2020 student newspaper, the Perdeby. The survey, done annualy since 1935,  monitored the recovery and population growth of these whales.The aerial surveyors use photographs taken form a helicopter to record all the whale species between Nature’s Valley and Muizenberg. A preliminary count done earlier in 2020 recorded a decline in whale sightings.

The UPA preserves the history of the University of Pretoria.
