On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" Tukkie’s student newspaper, the Perdeby reported on the students’ fundraising efforts to assist Rhodesia.

According to the article, as featured above, the Rhodesian army experienced severe shortage of horses. The article highlighted the role that the army played in protecting South Africa’s border. Each student was asked to donate at least one rand. Two of the UP bred Nooitgedracht horses was also send to the field to assist with the combat.
