On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the UP debate team competed against the Oxford team.

Perdeby, the student newspaper, reported on the lively debating sessions. The Oxford debating team visited UP library and the city. The debate contained humoristic elements of their visit. The Tukkie team debate centered around the possibility of a third world. The paper reported that the Tukkie students thoroughly enjoyed the discussions in the Extramural building.
