A day in the life at the University of Pretoria. 18 August 2006

Posted on August 18, 2022

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the two MBA (Master in Business Administration) programmes at TUKS was combined.

On 18 August 2006 the Senate of the University of Pretoria decided that a single MBA should be offered. This step was taken in order to consolidate the two MBA programmes offered at the University. The consequence of this merging of programmes is that the GIBS (Gordon Institute of Business

Science) MBA will be offered part time (in the evenings) at the GSM in Pretoria. A modular version of the programme is already available in Johannesburg and will not be offered in Pretoria.” Following the amalgamation of the GSM (Graduate School of Management) with GIBS in 2007, the GSM continued to operate, phasing out existing pipeline students, but not admitting any new MBA students. GIBS also continued to operate in Sandton, and, in addition, offered its MBA programme in Pretoria.

The University of Pretoria Archives (UPA) preserves the history of the University of Pretoria. We have an extensive photo collection and earlier copies of the senate, council and faculty minutes. The volumes of the University’s history captured in Ad Destinatium i-v, as featured here, also forms part of our collection. Please contact us on [email protected] to share your memories of Tukkies or access our collection virtually.
