According to the Johannesburg based newspaper the Rand Daily Mail this informal meeting discussed the possibility of providing technical training for students. The Transvaal University College representatives suggested that if students could not matriculate they should be given the opportunity of “obtaining a practical knowledge of farming on sound business lines”. This would enable the teenagers to one day became formen and managers or even own their own profitable farms. The TUC representatives agreed to formulate a policy and present their resolutions at the Annual Congress of the Transvaal Agricultural Union.
