Posted on June 24, 2021

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the first professor in the newly formed Faculty of Veterinary science was appointed.

Prof. P.R. Viljoen was first appointed as professor in Veterinary Science in the T.U.C (Transvaal University College) Agriculture Faculty in 1918. On 24 June 1920 he took up the role as Anatomy professor in the new faculty.

The UPA preserves the history of the University of Pretoria. We have an extensive photo collection and earlier copies of the senate, council and faculty minutes. The volumes of the University’s history captured in Ad Destinatium i-v, as featured here, also forms part of our collection. Please contact us on [email protected] to share your memories of Tukkies or access our collection virtually.
