A day in the life at the University of Pretoria. 15 June 1951

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" two Tukkies professors were awarded the prestigious Havenga reward for their research.

 

Dr. Stefan Meiring Naude receive the price in the Natural and Mathematical division because of his ground breaking research in spectrographics. Apart from lecturing students Dr. Steyn was also director of the national physics laboratory.

Prof H.L. de Waal also received the Havenga prize for his contribution in organic chemistry. He was the dean of the Faculty of Mathematic and Natural in 1944 and 19145 and was later also the president of the South African Chemistry Institute. His research focused on poison compounds in South African plants.
