A day in the life at the University of Pretoria. 13 May 2004

Posted on May 13, 2021

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the Senate Committee for Research

(13 May 2004) was founded.

UP’s institutional history noted that this committee arose from the HEQC Pilot Audit in 2003, which identified the need at UP for an institutional Research Committee at Senate level, as well as the new statute of UP that came into operation in January 2004. It had its inaugural meeting in 2004. At that time, the existing Senate Committee for Research Ethics and Integrity became a subcommittee of the Senate Research Committee, and was renamed the Committee for Research Ethics and Integrity. Likewise, in 2004, the reconstituted University-wide Animal Use and Care Committee (AUCC) became another subcommittee of the Senate Research Committee.

The UPA preserves the history of the University of Pretoria. We have an extensive photo collection and earlier copies of the senate, council and faculty minutes. The volumes of the University’s history captured in Ad Destinatium i-v, as featured here, also forms part of our collection.
