On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the newspaper, Oggendblad reported on the school choir concert that was held at the Aula.

These school  choir competitions started in 1979. This year sixty shools from all over South Africa competed in the competition. The Transvaal regional heats took place in the Aula. Competeing schools included high schools fthroughout Pretoria. The winners of this heat was set to compete at a prestige concert in Cape Town
