On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the student newspaper, Die Perdeby followed 19 Tukkies athletes as they competed in field items at Wits.

The article (featured above) noted that a large number of Tukkie students was sent via train to the Wits sport field. Most competed in the relay races. While the men lost all their relay races. The UP-female relay teams won their heats. The article also noted that, Dudley Meyer, a national Tukkie athlete competed the two-mile race in a record breaking nine minutes. Since its foundation years UP athletes, like Akani Simbine pictured here racing in 2015, continued to compete at national and international level.
