A day in the life at the University of Pretoria. 29 March 1949

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" adv. Charles te Water, was elected as UP chancellor. He was the fourth to be the titular head of the institution.

Te Water was born on on 4 February 1887 in Graaf-Reinet and completed is B.A. and LL.B. degree at Christ's College, Cambridge University. He served as the SA high commissioner in London from 1929 to 1939 after he served as attorney and barrister in Pretoria. In 1993 he was elected as President of the Assembly of the League of Nations. He travelled extensively and promoted the autonomy of South Africa.  Te Water was awarded an honorary doctor of laws degree by Wits University in 1955. He died in Cape Town in 1964, at the age of 77.
