The article (featured above) highlighted the important role the College played in SA’s recent history. The prime minister and minister of education addressed the college and congratulated the students and staff on a successful year. Despite the financial strain that the war left on the Union,  the Transvaal parliament promised £100 000 for the Transvaal University College and it extended activities. This money was earmarked to establish an agricultural faculty at the institution.
