30 October 2017: Japanese film showcase. On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria", personnel of the Centre for Japanese studies (newsletter featured below) attended the film “Persona Non Grata”.
The film depicted Chiune Sugihara, a Japanese Japan’s consul and his bravery during the second world war in Lithuania. The film was hosted in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan, the Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre and the Cape Town Holocaust Centre. The guest list included holocaust survivors and members of the Japanese community.
