25 October 1985: Kya Rosa officially opened. On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" Dr. Anton Rupert officially opened the replica of Kya Rosa built on the Hatfield campus.

Kya Rosa originally stood in Skinner street (pictured above) and was used for lectures and administration staff in 1909. In 1913 and 1915 it was used as a men’s and ladies hostel respectively. The architect for the rebuilding was Albrect Holm and the builder, Jan Scheffer.
