12 October 1956: Poor fashion sense. On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the student newspaper, Die Perdeby, published a letter detailing the poor fashion sense of male students on campus.

The female writer states (letter featured above) that, with a few exceptions, Tukkie men are careless dressers. “Where are your ties gentlemen?” asked the writer “ Why do you wear short khaki pants? Where are your blazers and please clean your pointed black shoes more than once a month….
