09 October 1964: The grateful student. On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the student newspaper, Die Perdeby, published a thank you letter by a crime victim.

In the letter (featured above) the student named Dippenaar, thanked a thief for returning some of his belongings. “Thank you for returning my Latin III notes”, writes Dippenaar, “Without this, three years of hard work would have been for nothing. Thank you for leaving some of my transport money in my wallet. If you have no use for my prescription sun glasses, please leave it on the third step of the library where you left my other things…”.
