22 September 1961: 1000 Votes. On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the student newspaper, Die Perdeby, reported that for the first time in Tukkie history, more than 1000 students voted in the Student Representative Council election.

In another first, a female representatives received 675 votes.
