Prof Ernie Heath presented a paper entitled: “Enhancing Tshwane’s Tourism Destination Competitiveness: Lessons from Leading Tourism Destinations”, while Mrs Mapula Tlhagale’s paper focussed on “Township Tourism: Creating a Demand for Township Tourism Experiences”.

The event succeeded in bringing together approximately 1300 delegates over the two days of the conference and around 300 business to business meetings were conducted. From a tourism perspective, a highlight of the conference was the prestigious 2010 Tshwane Tourism Awards function, where excellence in companies in the tourism and business sphere in Tshwane were recognized and celebrated.

Prof Heath and Mrs Tlhagale are respectively members of the Tshwane Tourism Action Team and the Tshwane Tourism Project Steering Committee.
