Now, nearly two decades later, during this year’s Indaba, he could not only reflect on how much positive change and growth has taken place in South Africa’s tourism industry, but could also share his experiences at two separate conferences held at the Indaba. At the Regional Tourism Organisation for Southern Africa (RETOSA) Inaugural Annual Destination Marketing Conference, held on Saturday 7 May, he acted as moderator and panel member, and also presented a paper entitled Destination Marketing in a Changing Environment: Some Lessons from Best-practice Destinations. During the National Department of Tourism Seminar with the theme Stimulating and Growing Domestic Tourism in South Africa, held on Monday 9 May, he presented a paper entitled Growing Domestic Tourism: Some Lessons from International Best Practices.
